First Aid for Mothers

On August 21st, SBSI had a SPECIAL SUMMER LESSON on the first aid for mothers with co-operation from Mrs. Hin Theany.Dr. Phearith from the Calmette Hospital taught the CPR and how to treat children when they got burn, choked, etc. Ms. Deborah Quilliam taught on water safety and what to do when the children were drowned. The mother who came had many good questions and eager to learn. In this country many people don’t know how to swim and every year many children’s lives are lost due to drowning, even in the swimming pools! So upon the request from the mothers, SBSI held this special class.

Rescuing Injured Patients and Basic Life Support (BLS)

On September 13th, SBSI held the 3rd workshop by 3 Japanese paramedics in Phnom Penh. The trainers, Mr. Tsuhako, Mr. Kinoshi from Kokushikan Univ., and Mr. Tanaka gave good lectures and demonstration on rescuing injured patients and Basic Life Support (BLS) to 41 military doctors and police at Phnom Penh Gendarmerie (Military Police HQ). . Mr. Matsuzaki and his staff from ISSHIN Co. Ltd., Ms. Misa Yokota, a paramedic, Ms. Shiho Miyauchi, a Japanese nurse, also assisted the workshop. Thank you everyone for working hard to help Cambodians to save Cambodians.

Workshop for Pre-Hospital and Emergency Department At KHMER SOVIET HOSPITAL

September 13rd, WORKSHOP AT KHMER SOVIET HOSPITAL! On September 13rd, SBSI held the second workshop for Pre-hospital and Emergency Department workers by 3 Japanese experts at Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital(KSFH). The trainers were Mr. Ken Tsuhako (Kawasaki City Fire Department), Mr. Tomoya Kinoshi (Kokushikan Univ. Research Associate), Shota Tanaka (ATC, NREMT―USA), who gave good lectures that include showing of video clips of the actual rescue scenes, demonstration of how to deal with knife stabs, abdominal eviscerations, etc., to 30 participants. At the end, there was a demonstration of on-site activities by the ambulance team in the hospital, using a Japanese ambulance. Mr. Matsuzaki and his staff from ISSHIN and Ms. Misa Yokota, a paramedic, helped the worksho.

A work shop on Basic Life Support for Medical Student

On March 21st, SBSI held a work shop on Basic Life Support (BLS) for medical students at CENAT with cooperation from the Sunrise Japan Hospital Phnom Penh (Open in July this year), which sent the director Dr. Hayashi as a lecturer and other staff to help.

Over 30 students (most of them were from a national medical university, UHS), attended. They listened to the lecture eagerly and practiced CPR and operation of AED. They were very happy to have such an opportunity and requested more workshops on the first aid.

Mr. Kota Hata, who is a doctor and an author of “But, we wanna build a school in Cambodia” joined as a volunteer too.
